BAY HOUSE

Residential New Build | Design & Build | Birmingham Architecture

Raw materials and an open arrangement to create a contemporary home

Location: Edgbaston, Birmingham
Sector: Residential Architects
Project Value: £1.5M
Status: Planning

Bay House is our proposal for a modern interpretation of a traditional three-bay Georgian Mansion house inspired by the unique historic precedent of the Calthorpe Estate.

The design’s raw materials of timber and expressed concrete create a tactile look and feel, and the practical arrangement of space and circulation has developed a dynamic design with visual interest at every turn. The main living space is brightly lit by natural daylight pouring in from the full-height glazing. On the upper floor, a terrace creates additional amenity space with a strong connection to the garden.

The home was designed to be formed using modular off-site construction methods to create a net-zero carbon dwelling built to Passivhaus Standards.
