Studio Manifest Team Update: Liv Completes Her Part 2 at the London School of Architecture
We are delighted to welcome our team member, Liv, back to the studio full-time following the successful completion of her Part 2 Architecture degree at the London School of Architecture (LSA).
Exploring Interdependent Housing in Hackney
Based on the Wilton Estate in Hackney, London, Liv’s final thesis explores how domestic architecture can better support informal caregiving through the design of interdependent housing.
Her proposal demonstrates how existing neighbourhoods can be strengthened through a thoughtful combination of:
Gentle densification: Sensitively adding to the existing urban fabric.
Retrofit architecture: Upgrading and repurposing existing structures to improve sustainability.
Shared community infrastructure: Creating more accessible, adaptable, and socially connected homes.
Rather than treating care as something hidden within the home, Liv's project embeds it into everyday life. By incorporating shared circulation, flexible living arrangements, community spaces, and thoughtful landscape design, the architecture promotes dignity, autonomy, and mutual support for both caregivers and care receivers.
