The deep-reveal window seat at the Inside-Out House quickly became one of the defining features of the project - and, as it turned out, our most-watched video on social media.

In the video clip, Ben walks through how the detail works in everyday life. Beyond creating a generous nook to sit and connecting the kitchen directly to the garden, the deep reveal serves a vital environmental purpose: providing passive solar shading to mitigate summer heat gain while welcoming lower winter sunlight into the home.

As UK summers grow noticeably warmer and heatwaves become a regular feature of our climate, creating a truly comfortable home requires a more considered approach to design.

Instead of relying on energy-intensive air conditioning to manage interior temperatures, intelligent residential architecture uses passive design principles to regulate heat, light, and airflow naturally.
